João Maia is a sociologist and associate professor in the School of Social Sciences in FGV, where he also edits the scholarly journal “Estudos Históricos”. Prof. Maia holds a Master degree (2001) and a PhD (2006) in Sociology from IUPERJ e his main research interests are: history of sociology, social thought in Brazil and sociology of science, with a focus on intellectual contexts in the Global South .
