About the Cold War Studies Research Group

The Cold War Studies Research Group was founded in 2010 at the University of São Paulo and certified by the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in 2013. We aim to deepen and exchange research focused on the analysis of ideas, politics, ideology, as well as on the psychological and cultural wars of the Cold War period. In this sense, and following the advances of recent historiography, we also focus our research on works related to the impact of civil liberties and rights, political freedom, security policies and decolonization movements. The group also aims to bring together researchers interested in discussing and fostering research in line with the renewal of historiography.  The Cold War Studies Research Group is a cross-disciplinary forum, whose main goal is to create a network of researchers resulting in fruitful debates, exchange of research experiences, as well as events and publications. Particular interest is dedicated to the studies of ethical and moral values which constitute the political thought and the strategies of this period. The group seeks to bring together researchers in order to provide a space for academic research and discussion on the Cold War, as well as to embrace different historiographical currents.
